Hobby Cutz #48 No Designer Paper

Our challenge this week at Hobby Cutz is no designer paper. We are sponsored by The Stamping Chef and we were lucky enough to get some of their images to work with. I chose Fairy Nuff for my card.

HC 50 No Designer Paper

My background was made with a Sheena Douglass embossing folder, and I embossed the pattern onto centura pearl card and then turned it round to the white debossed side and coloured it with distress inks from the limited edition range. I used Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade, Shaded Lilac and Peacock Feathers. After I inked the card I went over the insides of the flowers with a Wink of Stella Pen.

My intention was to colour the image with the same colours with the distress markers, but try as I might I don’t seem to be able to find a cardstock that you can print on and then blend the distress markers out. The videos on Youtube make it look so easy but I find that where you apply the colour is where it tends to stick and I don’t find them blendable at all. I am sure it’s just a matter of getting some good cardstock that doesn’t ‘grab’ the colour, so if any of you can recommend some, preferable printable, that would be fabulous!

Anyhow, as the DMs weren’t working for me I dragged out my trusty Prismacolour pencils and coloured the image in with them, blending out the colour with gamsol and a paper stump. The fancy mat is from spellbinders and I used the DM’s here and spritzed the colour on with a hand pumped spritzing tool, I also did the same surrounding the image, but with a promarker.

The fabulous scrolly corners are from Hobby Cutz, and I used Pinflairs Buff It to colour them a lovely teal colour to blend in with the colours already used. The wings have been gone over with the same Wink of Stella pen to give them some sparkle and her hair I used a White Sharpie Marker to create the dots.

Do go over to the Hobby Cutz blog and take a look at the gorgeous new designs that Kobie will soon be adding to the webshop… I hope to be getting my hands on some of them really soon!

  14. Hi Lin, Love your card, and the pretty colours you have used.
Thank you for the kind comments about my card....the small die-cut leaves on the inside of my card are new. I presume they are the ones you asked me about - they are 'Elegant Leaves' by Sweet Stamps...great dies, great prices...they cut and release from the dies beautifully. If you want to know about any of the other products I used, they are all listed at the end of my posts.

    Hugs,
    Jennifer. x
